Disbursement: An out-of-pocket cost incurred in progressing a matter, such as a report or court fee, as distinct from professional fees.
Legal Disbursement Funding: Funding provided to a law firm to cover the disbursements a matter requires, repaid on agreed terms.
Medico-Legal Report: An independent medical assessment prepared to support a personal injury claim.
Counsel Fees: The fees charged by a barrister engaged to advise on, or appear in, a matter.
Claimant: The individual pursuing a personal injury claim, on whose behalf the firm acts.
Referral Partner: A barrister, consultant or professional who works alongside firms and may refer matters.
